White Rock British Columbia Dance Teaching Course

Are you a new or relatively new dance instructor who wants to prove to dance studios that you are qualified to teach dance at their dance studio? Well, good news, especially if you are in the British Columbia area or can easily travel there. There is an International Dance Teaching Standards level one course coming up on January 7th and January 8th in White Rock, BC, per the International Dance Teaching Standards website.

The course is designed by dance teaching professionals working at the dance studio level who are also engaged in dance & movement science research at universities. The following topics are covered in the level one course:

  • Anatomy
  • Choreography
  • Classroom Management
  • Competition Dance Industry
  • Contracts and Standards
  • Dance Injuries
  • Injury Prevention
  • Judging and Aesthetics
  • Pedagogy and Theory
  • Season Planning
  • Skill Acquisition
  • Strength and Flexibility

In order to qualify to take this International Dance Teaching Standards (formerly known as Canadian Dance Standards) level one course you must:

  • Have an understanding of dance technique (any style)
  • Have a strong dance vocabulary
  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Provide a Bio

Once you have taken the course it would be a great thing to add to your resume. Once you have, you should submit your dance teaching resume to Dance Teacher Finder. Dance Teacher Finder helps dance instructors find dance teaching jobs because it has the following tools:

Elizabeth Emery is a former dance studio owner. She owned Dancers Unite in Charlotte, NC for 6 years, where she helped run the studio as well as taught dance classes six days a week. She sold her studio to one of her teachers and now dedicates her time helping other dance studio owners as well as dance teachers with her new business, Dance Teacher Finder, which helps pair dance studios with dance instructors.
