Dance Teacher and Choreographer Position at Performing Arts Summer Camp

Overview

This is a full time summer time only position from June 17  to August 25. (or close to those dates). We are looking for dancers with a broad range of styles they can teach and choreograph.  Of special interest are Hip-Hop and street dancers who could also choreograph/teacher other styles. Our camp is located in upstate New York and you would be living on camp with us for the summer.

We are a performing and fine arts summer camp located in the heart of the beautiful Adirondack Park of upstate New York (12847). Since 1969 Long Lake Camp for the Arts dance department has taught all styles and levels of dance to children ages 8 to 16 from all over the world. We produce wonderful dance productions each session and we produce many musicals that require fabulous choreography.
We are looking for dance instructors/choreographers who are available from June 17 to August 25 (or close to those dates)  and would enjoy being in the Adirondack Park (mountains, trees, lakes, great weather and the cleanest air in America) for the summer to inspire the next generation of dancers. We prefer staff with a range of styles you teach and previous choreography experience is preferred. The salary is good for a summer position, there will be days off and in addition you will live at camp for free, so free food, accommodations and we do your laundry for you. If you need assistance traveling to Long Lake from New York City or Albany airport we have free options.
We run a non-competitive philosophy here so we welcome beginners to advance students, however our Dance productions are wonderful as are our musical theater shows.  The dance production are very beautiful, thought provoking and contemporary in spirit and tremendous energy. Each dance instructor will be responsible for a section of the dance show so you will have a creative input which is unusual for a first time instructor in a dance department. In addition you will be offering dance classes and get assigned to a musical as a choreographer. We produce wonderful broadway musicals every session. Our 4 other dance teachers are very positive, warm and friendly support. In addition to dance, Long Lake offers, musical theater, music, circus, fine arts, film, rock bands and fun outdoor sports.
