Overview

Applications are now being accepted for part-time contract dance teachers at Feel the Beat at both our primary studio located inside the Charles Whitlock Recreation Center in Lakewood, CO as well as ability to travel to on-site locations throughout the Denver metro area. We are looking for a responsible and dedicated individual, who can provide a safe and encouraging space for all students and help to enhance each student’s dancing skills.

The Company: Feel the Beat is a 501c(3) non-profit dance organization based in Denver, CO, creating equally accessible music and dance experiences for all types of students. Our learners include those who are Hearing, Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and with Disabilities (as well as those without Disabilities). We’ve developed a curriculum that incorporates a vibrotactile dance floor and instruction tools to aid in the experience of dance.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Must possess excellent patience and communications skills
-Maintain the safety of the class participants
-Develop students’ technical and performance skills throughout the program term
-Ability to teach and encourage a range of student levels and abilities
-Demonstrate and teach a variety of dance methods, techniques, and skills that help control the body to achieve desired moves.
-Observe students to determine the kind of training and development needed
-Prepare choreographed dances for performances
-Review students and evaluate their progress
-Regularly attend your agreed-upon days and times.
-Uphold a high quality of professionalism as a representative of Feel the Beat

Education and Qualifications:

-Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience
-Ability to teach during the day and evenings on weekdays is a must, Saturday is a plus
-Previous experience with teaching children (including preschoolers) as well as adults
-Cultural Diversity and Special Needs experience is an asset
-Ability to teach and alter instruction to meet students’ needs and preferences
-Former dance education and/or professional experience is preferred
-Have good knowledge of basic dancing techniques
-Extensive and advanced level of training in different dance genres
-At least a bachelor’s degree in dance education and applied dance is an asset
*Basic knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is a plus
Salary:  During this contractual work, you will be paid a rate of between $20-$45 per hour based on experience, on a monthly basis in accordance with the Feel the Beat’s company payroll process. This is a part-time contracted position.  Salary will be formulated based on the number of hours worked. Direct deposit is available.

 

Liability Coverage: All employees and volunteers are covered within our institution’s liability policy. General Liability Coverage includes protection for liability claims that arise out of the operations, within the scope of the policy. Coverage protects you if you are legally obligated to pay damages for bodily injury to others and for property damage by others resulting from your instruction activities.
