We are currently accepting applications for Part-time Recreation Program Instructor –primarily focusing on Dance within the Parks and Recreation Department. The Part-time Recreation Program Instructor –Dance is responsible for instructing Lenexa Parks and Recreation program participants in dancing recreation classes that reflect the City’s vision, mission and values.   This is a part-time position and the incumbent must be available to work 10 to 15 hours per week. They will be working closely with our lead dance instructor and recreation supervisor in preparing the course curriculum for the classes and presenting to the participants. The Recreation Program Instructor –Dance will also assist with chorography for performances and assist with special events.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED plus a minimum of three years instruction and customer service experience, plus required certification for an instructor to teach a specific class.

The following skills, knowledge, and abilities are necessary:
•Ability to communicate and interact effectively with the parents, children and to assist in leading/directing groups.
•Ability to handle problems as they arise.
•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
•Good organizational and planning skills.
•Ability to lift 50 pounds
•Be knowledgeable with subject matter in the area of dance.
