About the Job
The Ayana Dance School is seeking an exceptionally talented educator to become a Part-Time Ballet Teacher and Choreographer for the 2021-2022 school year.
The Ayana Dance School has immediate openings for 2-3 professional ballet and contemporary instructors on our weekly team as well as within our substitute pool. The ideal candidate would have strengths in teaching Classical Dance; Pre-Ballet, Beginning/Advanced Ballet, and/or Pointe.
Responsibilities and Duties
Teaching pre-ballet & beginning level Ballet (students ages 3-13)
Current Urgent Needs for ages 4-9
Teaching advanced level Ballet and Pointe, and/or all levels of Contemporary
Lesson planning that reflects an intentional, consistent purpose and curriculum
Choreographic collaborations with Ayana Dance colleagues for our annual June ballet showcase
Qualifications and Skills
Availability of one to three nights/Saturday morning per week during the school year (additional winter holiday/summer opportunities are available)
A commitment to maintain a consistent schedule for the long term
Mindfulness to movement techniques and practices that assure the safety of our dancers
Education
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in the style related to applicant’s interest
Knowledge of the terminology, basic pedagogy, and history related to the style of applicant’s interest
Dance training from an accredited college program and/or professionally recognized company or studio (Vaganova or RAD method is desirable)
Strong written and verbal skills which ensure strong communications between students, staff, and families
Must be willing to teach a mock class & agree to a background check as part of the hiring process

About Ayana Dance School dba Ayana School of Ballet
We are looking to hire 1-3 Ballet Teachers for 2021-2022 school year for students ages 3-13. We did not stop our program during pandemic, we had online/in-person classes throughout this school year. We are open now and started in-person classes on March 6th, 2021.
