Are you a dance instructor looking for a studio to teach with? Want to be in charge of your own curriculum? Come teach with the Waukegan Park District at the Jack Benny Center in Bowen Park.

The Dance Instructor is under the Cultural Arts Specialist’s supervision. The Dance Instructor is responsible for duties related to dance classes including instructing students, taking attendance, controlling and providing the music source, and demonstrating dance combinations.

Skills & Qualifications:

EXPERIENCED DESIRED:

Must be 18 years of age and be an experienced dancer. Preferred 2 years experience leading dance classes. Preferred degree in Dance. And have experience with children ages 3-12 and be skilled in the specific style of the class (ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, etc.)

DUTIES:

The Dance Instructor is responsible for the supervision and safety of the students at all times.

Responsible for instructing students in dance, choreograph combinations, correct mistakes and create routines.

Responsible for communication with parents on their students’ progress and answer any questions, or forward them to the Specialist.

What the instructor does reflects back on the Park District. Must conduct him/herself with professionalism and courtesy. Must be a role model for Students.

Responsible for setting up and returning the studio to pre-class condition.  Dance Instructor will utilize equipment in a respectable and safe manner before, during and after class.

Must comply with deadlines for class proposals and marketing information provided by Specialist.

Adhere to general rules and policies of the Waukegan Park District.
