Overview

The Children’s Ballet Teacher will serve as an ambassador for The Sarasota Ballet. They will provide the highest level of professional training to all students, following the curriculum with consistency and enthusiasm. Faculty members must demonstrate a concern for all students without favoritism along with nurturing the love and appreciation of this art form.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan, teach, develop, and motivate students ages 3-16 following the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum.
Plan, teach and inspire older learners in our Adult and Silver Swans Program.
Stage, choreograph or rehearse student presentations/performances.
Assist in running all extra rehearsals in preparation for performances. Assist in running any performances, including on-stage rehearsals, backstage needs, costuming etc.
Attend all faculty meetings, curriculum meetings and professional development seminars.
Prepare written evaluations for students.
Maintain and ensure a healthy, safe, and inclusive school environment for students.
Follow and implement all policies established for The Sarasota Ballet School, including safety, emergency, and evacuation procedures.
Maintain positive relations with parents and students from all Sarasota Ballet School programs, through various methods of communication.
Must be available to support all organization wide activities and special events.
Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 5 years teaching classical ballet at a variety of levels.
American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum, at a minimum Pre-Primary – Level 3.
Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a driving record check.
Must successfully pass a Grade 2 background check.
Must have a flexible schedule as work hours during the evenings and weekends is required.
Must be able to legally work in the United States.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Teaching Dance through Parkinson’s Training.
Professional dance training and dance career.
College Degree.
