Dance Instructor/Choreographer

Be a part of a fun innovative dance studio! The Dance Factory offers instruction in Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet, Contemporary, Acro, Musical Theater and more. We are looking for team-oriented and creative dance educators and mentors who are not afraid to “think outside of the box”. Enjoy a fun and collaborative work environment.

The ideal candidate will have a Masters’s degree in dance or related performing art as well as 2+ years of teaching experience. Those with a strong dance background without teaching experience will also be considered. Strong preference will be given to instructors with the ability to teach multiple styles across various ages and levels.

Qualifications

· MFA in dance preferred or equivalent experience

· Positive and pleasant personality. Good customer service skills.

· Ability to coach and train dancers to the professional level

· Love for children, role model and mentor

Duties and Responsibilities

-Prepare and teach fun and energetic classes in various dance styles to students aged 3-adult .
-Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans
-Assistance with choreography for competition teams as needed
-Explain and demonstrate proper dance techniques
-Ability to connect and capture students’ attention, deliver information clearly, concisely and effectively
-Establish and communicate clear objectives
-Create choreography for classes and performances.
-Maintain student attendance records
-Participation in quarterly staff meetings
-Participation in training as organized by director
-Participation at Recitals and Showcases
-Lead instructor training as pertains to teaching skills.
-Giving constructive criticism, encouragement and confidence
-Create a welcoming, healthy and safe learning environment for all students to grow and learn by setting class-based rules and boundaries that are centered on mutual respect and understanding of our core values
-Collaboration with other members of the faculty and staff
-Effective and timely communication in person and through email with staff
-Support of school-wide programs
-Work reflectively to set goals, receive constructive feedback and try new strategies to improve student achievement.
