Small Fry Dance Club / Principal Creative & Performing Arts Is Hiring!

Award winning dance school, founded in 2007 by Jana & Carlos Chapeton is looking for one or two more versatile teachers that love teaching dance, and love working with kids of all ages.

ABOUT YOU

You’re a dance teacher that love their craft! You understand the differences between leading a group of recreational 4-year-old dancers, a group of competitive teens and everything in between. You’re someone with versatility in both dance styles taught, and age groups you are comfortable with. You have an extensive background in tap, jazz, and/or lyrical, but other backgrounds would also be welcome!

We are looking for someone with previous teaching experience. 3+ years preferred, but will consider someone with less experience if we feel you are a good fit.

  • Is great with kids of all ages
  • Can teach at our studio in San Mateo
  • Open to teaching off-site for certain classes
  • Has reliable transportation

ABOUT THE POSITION
We have immediate availability for Wednesday and Thursdays afternoon/evenings. These days include everything from preschool age recreational classes, up to pre-teen competitive groups. The classes would be ideal for someone with a tap/jazz/lyrical background. We are open to expanding the position in the future to include more days/hours. In the future this position could become a FT, salaried position, with benefits, for the right candidate. (Especially, if you have some morning or weekend availability.)

SMALL FRY DANCE CLUB CLASSES: We provide weekly curriculum and choreography, and will guide you through each 6 month season. We will provide you with everything you need to teach these classes. The age groups are 2-4 and 3-5 years of age.

PRINCIPAL ARTS CLASSES: These classes are run more like a traditional studio class. We have some curriculum, depending on style, but we will lean on  you for your knowledge and creativity. Technique, strength, and flexibility are all part of these classes. We expect that you understand how to pace a group that is preparing for an end-of-season recital. If you should be open to leading a competitive group, we would also expect you to know how to manage those groups differently from a traditional class in terms of pacing, technique, focus, etc.

PAY: Starting at $35/hr – higher for the right candidate(s)

About Small Fry Dance Club / Principal Creative & Performing Arts

SFDC and PCPA are one school separated into two programs. Our school has been in business for 14 years. Small Fry teaches on-site and studio dance classes to preschool and school age students. Dancers range in age from 18 months to 5 years. Principal Arts is our more traditional studio program for ages 5 through 18. PCPA offers a variety of styles including ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre, hip hop, lyrical, and contemporary.
