Overview

Summary:

The ideal ballroom instructor is comfortable working with a variety of individuals and has excellent interpersonal skills. S/he is energetic, personable, engaging, and has significant social dance instruction experience. Maintaining a can-do attitude and working well with other team members is crucial. Punctuality, dependability, and professionalism are required. Must be able to work various shifts per week and at times be available for both weekdays and weekends.

Essential Duties:

  • Providing social dance instruction for a variety of styles.
  • Create relationships with potential and current students.
  • Create guest-centric, personalized experience with every interaction.
  • Event attendance and participation.
  • Assist with social dance communications.
  • Assist in creating marketing materials.
  • Schedule & plan private lessons.
  • Serve in a professional & courteous manner with the highest regard to the customer.
  • Attend required staff meetings.
  • Work as a team player with co-workers & in conjunction with other programs.
  • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned.

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge Required:

  • Comprehension of social dance techniques and styles.
  • Excellent interpersonal/customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated and responsible.
  • Ability to relate to others in a professional manner and thrive in a team environment.
  • Practice the principles of exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and composure.
  • Flexibility in scheduling.
  • Exhibit good safety awareness & judgement.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Preference given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree in education, dance, youth services, recreation or working toward a degree in these areas.
  • At least 3 years’ experience instructing dance programs as a lead instructor.
  • Ability to plan, organize & lead dance programs.
