Overview

Help children find their passion, and teachers reach their fullest potential through dance.

The Educational Director is a multi-faceted position that manages our dynamic teaching staff while overseeing curriculum and classroom experience while also spending time in the classroom as a teacher, choreographer, and a leader for our teams. You will energize and inspire classrooms for our dancers, and ensure quality of the student experience while motivating and educating the staff on our policy and culture.  The Educational Director works closely with the Director to maintain our culture in the classroom while helping shape the artistic vision of the company.  You will help change lives!

Position must be in-person, though we will continue some remote work as we transition out of quarantine.  Job has flexible hours depending on teaching load, with many additional opportunities for growth and extra Income through your role with teams and the chance to teach private lessons!  All in-person instruction will be in a safe and distanced environment throughout the COVID-19 Phased Plan.

We offer competitive hourly pay with overtime during September, January, and May Peak Seasons. Simple IRA with a 3% match, 1 week of paid vacation, performance-based incentive and bonus structure, plus opportunities to attend trainings, and conferences to enhance teaching and management experience.

 

We would like the position to start between Late June – Mid July.

 

Applicant should have the following Administrative Skills:

·       Looking for someone innovative, intuitive, hard-working, who is a strong multi-tasker and thrives while working in a fast-paced environment.

·       3-5 years administrative and management experience

·       Strong organizational skills.

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to deliver excellent customer service.

·       Proficient in Excel, Word, and familiar with Google Drive, Project Management Software and Databases.

·       Ability to design and manage a budget.

·       HR Support including hiring, on boarding, training, documenting, and resolving concerns and enforcing policy and deadlines for your team.

 

Applicant should have the following Dance Skills

·       Dance Degree or equivalent training experience.

·       3-5 years teaching experience in Jazz, and Contemporary. (Ballet, and Modern, Hip Hop, Acro, Tap, Yoga, Pilates, are all a bonus). References must be provided.

·       A reel or videos showcasing  competitive choreography and artistry.

·       Experience working with curriculum, syllabi, evaluations, and auditions to elevate and adjudicate our advancement process.

Administrative Component – ($21-$27/hr DOE) – 20-30 Hours Per Week (depending on teaching and team load)

·       Hours shift seasonally (Sept-May) and (June-August)

·       Seasonal weekend work and overtime.  COVID-19 impact will make this year unique- TBD.

·       Working knowledge of Dance Arts and Arts Mentorship Programs’ policy and programming.

·       On boarding new staff and training.

·       Schedules, Subs and Payroll Audit

·       Weekly Communication with Teaching Staff

·       Manage Teaching Staff and Department Heads:  meetings, weekly communication, hiring, conflict resolution, praise and support

·       Booking: Privates and support with Parties.

·       Administrative Support for the leadership team as needed.

·       Bonus if candidate speaks Spanish.

·       Bonus if candidate has graphic, web design skills or videography skills.

Instructor Component –- ($25-$40/hr DOE)

·       First priority teaching schedule.

·       Teach 3-10 classes per week

·       Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary  with Modern as a bonus.

·       Ability to teach minis  (under 5) a bonus

·       Ability to teach other genres a bonus

·       Private Lessons are a great source of additional income

 

Competition Team Director-Profit Share-

 

 

·      Opportunity to choreograph duets, solos, trios. (extra compensation per piece)

·       Weekly emails to students and parents

  • Manage schedules with dancers, choreographers, parents, and DA calendar

·       Order costumes, custom jackets and pins.

·       Register for comps-strict deadlines

·       Must attend 3 scheduled competitions per year – TBD

·       Send invoices to parents-Collect and track money – work with School Director

·       Accountability, conflict management, and work with Director when conflicts arise.

·       Choreography for groups, solos, duets, and trios paid as you go.  Profit share paid out in December and June – Opportunity to make up to $5,000 per year (how COVID impacts this numbers is still unknown)

(On hold partially for 20-21 season with COVID-19)

·       Regular Saturday rehearsals in the fall and 1-2 per month in the spring.

·       3 Dress Rehearsals – TBD

·       Leader and artistic vision for team. Must be present at auditions to cast pieces.

·       Choreographer for two group numbers (extra compensation per piece)

 

Director Pre-Company

·       Staggered Friday Evening Rehearsals

·       Leader and artistic vision for team. Must be present at auditions to cast pieces.

·       Choreographer for one group number

·       Weekly emails to students and parents

·       Manage schedules with dancers, choreographers, parents, and DA calendar

·       Order costumes, custom jackets and pins.

·       Must attend local performances and 1 competitive event (TBD)

·       Send invoices to parents-Collect and track money – work with School Director

·       Accountability, conflict management, and work with Director when conflicts arise.

·       Approximately $800 per year

 

Assistant Director Company- via Arts Mentorship Program

·       Help build company repertory.

·       Help with managing calendar.

·       Help with show production – attend major rehearsals.

·       Includes Choreography – Approximately $2700 per year
