Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, professional, and enthusiastic Dance Instructor to join our team. The Dance Instructor will be responsible for teaching age-appropriate dance classes, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, and helping students master fundamental skills, proper technique, and dance terminology. The ideal candidate will inspire a love for dance while maintaining discipline, structure, and creativity in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Teach assigned dance classes.
Instruct students in basic positions, techniques, choreography, and terminology appropriate to their age and level.
Prepare and deliver engaging lesson plans that encourage student growth and confidence.
Maintain a safe, supportive, and respectful classroom environment.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and the studio director regarding progress, concerns, or incidents.
Follow studio guidelines for incident reporting, communication, and workplace culture.
Choreograph routines for monthly showcases, recitals, and competitions as assigned.
Collaborate with the director and other instructors to ensure consistency in dance education and performance quality.
Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism both inside and outside the studio.
Stay updated on current trends, techniques, and teaching methods in dance.
Qualifications
Degree in Dance (preferred)
Prior experience as a dance instructor or professional dancer (minimum 3 years preferred).
Strong knowledge of dance technique, positions, and terminology.
Ability to teach multiple age groups and skill levels.
Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
Passion for dance education and student development.
Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism are required.
CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
Compensation
$70 per hour for classes and private lessons.
Paid bi-weekly (every two weeks, on Friday).
For competitions: half rate of pay beginning one hour before scheduled performance until the conclusion of awards.
Recitals: volunteer basis (assisting backstage and transitions).
