Overview
Summary:
We are looking for a part time dance instructor that will make sure classes are led in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement. The instructor is responsible for leading youth group classes and creating curriculum for specific skills affiliated with each particular course design. We are looking for someone that can teach multiple styles such as jazz, ballet, hip-hop, lyrical, creative movement, but we are primarily in need of someone who is strong in tap. We are also looking for a vocal, tumbling, musical theatre, cheer and sports sub/ assistant teacher. The youth instructor position offers a fun and exciting opportunity teaching ages 2-adults from various hours morning and evenings.
Hours and Salary
Salary Range: $12.00 – $15/hour
0-20 hours/week, non-exempt, Part Time Hourly,
*We follow most of the LAUSD calendar including no hours available during LAUSD breaks and vacations.
Availability
Shifts may include 8:00AM – 12:30PM and/or 3:00-8:00PM from Monday – Saturday
Must be available for at least three or more shifts during the week.

Qualifications
Kinesiology, Physical Education, Education, Pedagogy, and or dance background preferred.
Experience working with ages 2- 16 years olds and we are looking for someone to do a few hours teaching adults
Ability to communicate effectively and relate to youth and older members
Must possess knowledge and skills necessary to inform, educate and motivate students in all areas of health and physical fitness
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals
Ability to assist members/students in all aspects of physical fitness and barriers they must overcome to achieve their goals
Ability to assist members/students in all Healthy Lifestyle programs available.
Responsibilities
Aid in the development and amend (as necessary) monthly lesson plans to ensure organization and quality.
Implement daily lesson plans in an environment so that each student has an opportunity for success and an ability to increase their confidence as it relates to physical activity and health.
Make notations regarding each individual’s participation, behavior and progress.
Proactively build friendships between the teachers, the staff, and the students. Learn student’s strengths and weaknesses so you can motivate and tailor lesson plans to meet their needs.
Report problems, breakdowns in equipment, infringement on policies and unusual situations to appropriate supervisor/director.
Positively discipline and redirect children.
Smile and maintain a positive attitude, developing strong relationships with teachers, parents, kids, and coworkers.
Maintain a professional appearance and wear the uniform that is provided to you.
Must attend all mandatory trainings needed for the job.
Perform any additional task as assigned by supervisor.
