Overview

We are looking for an experienced and creative Contemporary teacher to teach recreational and/or competitive dance classes at our studio.  They will also be asked to choreograph solos, duets, and/or trios for our competition team.  They will be responsible for teaching and choreographing for a recital at the end of the year and/or dance competitions from March-July.  We have three successful Contemporary competition teams.  This position starts in August for audition classes and auditions, and full classes run from September to June.  Applicants who we are interested in may be asked to teach at our intensive in July as part of the interview process.  Applicants should be available Monday-Thursday, but may not be needed for all four days.  Right now, our schedule is flexible as to which nights Contemporary teachers will be needed, but they will be working an average of 8-12 hours per week, depending on registration.  Qualified and interested candidates should send their resume to jdo5678@comcast.net with subject line “Contemporary Teacher.”  E-mail should include a short cover letter and summary of salary requirements.  Feel free to attach video samples of your choreography.

Jamie's Dance Odyssey is a beautiful 7,400 square foot dance school with six professional dance studios, including an extra large room for acrobatics. Each studio contains raised time-step flooring perfect for all styles of dance.  We have an average of 400 students each year, including 80 competition team members that compete in Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Contemporary.  Our competition team has been nationally recognized for its excellence, including our Senior Tap Team, which was awarded "Best Tap Performance of the Year" in 2015 by the Industry Dance Awards.
