Lead Instructor / Head Competition Coach
📍 Icon Dance | Angleton, Texas (Lower Brazoria County)
Icon Dance is looking for an experienced, passionate, and motivated Lead Instructor / Head Competition Coach to join our growing studio family.
We are a small recreation-focused studio with a close-knit atmosphere and a strong emphasis on creating a positive, healthy dance environment for our students and staff. Our competition team is intentionally small and primarily competes in recreation and novice divisions, with a focus on dancer growth, confidence, teamwork, and strong technical foundations.
We are searching for someone who not only has strong technical training, but who genuinely enjoys mentoring dancers and helping build a supportive program where kids can thrive both on and off the stage.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
We are specifically looking for someone with strong experience in:
Ballet
Tap
Jazz
Lyrical
Contemporary
Acro
The ideal candidate should also have:
Competition team coaching experience
Strong choreography skills across multiple styles
Experience cleaning routines and preparing dancers for performance
The ability to teach both recreational and competitive dancers
Strong classroom management and communication skills
A positive, team-oriented attitude
A passion for helping dancers grow technically and personally
Position Responsibilities
Lead and coach competition team dancers
Teach technique and choreography classes
Choreograph age-appropriate, entertaining, and technically sound routines
Assist with music selection, costume concepts, and overall creative vision
Work collaboratively with studio staff and administration
Help maintain a welcoming, drama-free, team-centered culture
Attend competitions, rehearsals, studio events, and staff meetings
