Overview

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Studio Owner/Director — Create Recreational Choreography, Instruct various Leveled Recreational Dance Classes, Lead Rehearsals, Attend Off Site Performance Events, Attend Recitals & Community Performances, etc.

Education, Experience, & Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Preference will be given towards candidates with a bachelor’s degree in education, dance, youth services, and/or are working toward a degree in these areas.
  • At least 3 years experience in dance instruction
  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead classes.
  • Ability to lead, guide, and supervise dancers.
  • Excellent communication skills with parents, dancers, studio director, and other staff.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and handle grievances while upholding studio policy
  • Ability to contribute to and improve on the recreational dance program.
  • Ability to act within, instill in others, and maintain studio culture within the program.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Excellent comprehension of ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop dance techniques
  • Excellent customer service skills and a high level of understanding of customer service principles
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Apple computer programs. Special consideration will be given to those with working knowledge of Trello, Asana, and JackRabbit Dance software

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement all program items given by the Studio Owner/Director
  • Assist with assessing class placement for all dancers within the program
  • Select and/or gain approval of all music selections, costumes, and themes for all performance pieces
  • Edit all music sections to the discretion of the Studio Director
  • Monitor progress and attendance of every dancer within assigned classes
  • Communicate with Studio Director immediately if an issue should arise with a plan to remedy said issue.
  • Adhere to Instructor Due Date Calendars
  • Attend all studio events (rehearsals, recitals, open house, block parties, etc.)
  • Input dancer evaluations in a timely manner
  • Attend all monthly staff meetings
  • Instruct class with a high level of energy, positivity, and with attention to detail ensuring successful growth of dancers under your instruction
  • Assist entire staff in maintaining a clean and organized environment

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 – $30.00 per hour
