Overview

Major duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

·         Providing dance instruction in the following dance genres:

o    Jazz – traditional, ballet-based

o    Hip Hop – dance technique based (nice to have)

o    Contemporary – traditional, modern dance-based

o    Tap – traditional American

·         Teaching Beginning through Intermediate levels to dances age 5 through 14

·         Supporting school productions with choreography, training and rehearsal attendance

·         Preparing student dance performances and showcase numbers

·         Planning and coordinating costume requirements for dance performances

·         Developing and maintaining dance instruction curriculum for courses taught

 

Qualifications

 

Essential qualifications include:

Bachelor’s degree in Dance Education, Performance or Choreography from a competitive college or university is preferred, but at least 2 years’ experience instructing elementary, middle or high school dance
·         Excellent interpersonal & communication skills

·         Skills to collaborate closely and work as a team player, ability to receive constructive feedback

Desirable Qualifications:

·         College degree in dance or choreography

·         Ability to be flexible with hours, including occasional nights/weekends
